Essay AbstractIs it ultimately possible in physics to construct a unified field theory? It has been said that string theory is the Only Game in Town for such a construction, but this essay attempts to outline another program that might possibly succeed in such a construction, based on geometry, Clifford algebra, and construction of a hyperfinite von Neumann factor. For the program to succeed, it must enable calculation of force strengths, particle masses, etc. The Math of Hua Lougeng, particularly the work in his book "Harmonic Analysis of Functions of Several Complex Variables in the Classical Domains" is the key to doing those calculations. Due to space limitations, this essay is restricted to a general overview of the framework of the proposed program, but reference is made to works with details including extensive calculations.

Sgt. Smith, Esq., How can your assertion be falsified? If it cannot be falsified then can it be 'scientific' (after Sir Karl Popper) and, if not, physics? Thank you.

My "assertion can be falsified" by comparing the calculated force strengths, particle masses, Kobayashi-Maskawa parameters, and Dark Energy : Dark Matter : Ordinary Matter ratio
with the observed values.
As mentioned on page 9 of my essay, detailed comparison can be found in my pdf web book at

I regret that the 10-page limit of the essay contest precluded me from putting details there.

Dear Tony Smith,
I also like E8. Garrett Lisi made me a fan of the Exceptional groups. But I still consider the 8-dimensional E8 to be the theory of Hyperspace and not the theory of Spacetime. I have had more in-depth discussions with Garrett about E8. Your ideas are interesting nonetheless...
How many of these parameters that can "be falsified" fall directly out of the structure of E8, and how many are ad hoc or require additional theories/ mathematics?
Do you live in Valdosta? I live in Tallahassee.
Sincerely,
Ray Munroe

The existence of the first-generation fermion particle leptons and quarks, and their antiparticles, and the forces, pretty much "fall directly out of the structure of E8",
so you could say that E8 sets the stage qualitatively.
The properties of the Standard Model and Gravity forces "require additional theories/mathematics"
such as Meinhard Mayer's Higgs mechanism, MacDowell-Mansouri Gravity, M4 x CP2 Kaluza-Klein,
and
particularly for actual calculation of numerical masses and force strengths,
the mathematics of Complex Bounded Domains and their Shilov Boundaries,
which was developed by Hua Luogeng.
Since the numerical calculations are the critical thing for falsifiability tests,
the work of Hua Luogeng seems to me to be the most important single element,
the "keystone" so to speak.

Dear Frank D Smith,
The EPR paradox reveals the existence of constrains to unify the fundamental forces of Nature, as there is variability of gauge invariance; and in this article I think you have concluded the mathematical constrains on this framework. Hence we may have to think of the probability of completeness by the confluence of Unified Field Theory and Beyond Superstring Theory on, Beyond Standard Model candidatures.
With Best wishes
